Outlander
Outlander, the epic time-travel drama based on Diana Gabaldon's novels, uses the Scottish Highlands extensively, and Glen Coe's landscape appears throughout the series as the backdrop to Jamie and Claire's Highland adventures.
While the show's primary filming locations are further east (Glencorse, Doune Castle, Midhope Castle), the establishing shots of "wild Highland Scotland" frequently feature Glen Coe and the surrounding area. The pass of Glen Coe, the Rannoch Moor, and the peaks of the area all appear.
For Outlander fans visiting Glen Coe, the experience of standing in the actual landscape — the mist swirling around the peaks, the heather-covered hillsides, the sense of history and clan warfare — brings the show to life in a way that no screen can match.
The Glencoe Massacre of 1692, while not directly depicted in Outlander, is part of the same world of Highland clan politics that the show portrays so vividly.
