Skyfall (James Bond)
In Skyfall (2012), Daniel Craig's James Bond drives his iconic Aston Martin DB5 along the single-track road through Glen Etive — the moment that introduced millions of cinema-goers to this hidden valley.
The scene shows Bond and M driving north to Bond's childhood home, "Skyfall Lodge." While the lodge itself was a set built at Hankley Common in Surrey, the establishing shots of the journey — the dramatic valley, the winding road, the brooding mountains — are pure Glen Etive.
The specific stretch of road used is easily identifiable: the single-track road that branches south from the A82 at the head of Glen Coe, following the River Etive for 12 miles to Loch Etive. The scene was filmed near the mid-point of the glen.
Since the film's release, Glen Etive has become one of the most visited filming locations in Scotland. The road is narrow and single-track — drive slowly and use passing places.
