Am Bodach (Aonach Eagach)
6 km
Distance
953m
Elevation
4-5 hours
Duration
Am Bodach (943m) is the eastern summit of the Aonach Eagach ridge and can be climbed as a standalone Munro without committing to the full ridge traverse. This makes it accessible to experienced hill walkers who aren't comfortable with the scrambling of the main ridge.
The ascent from the Am Bodach car park is steep and relentless, climbing through grass and heather before reaching the rocky upper slopes. The summit offers spectacular views along the Aonach Eagach ridge, across Glen Coe to Bidean nam Bian, and east to Rannoch Moor.
Return by the same route. Do NOT be tempted to continue along the ridge unless you're equipped and experienced for Grade 2 scrambling.
