Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall

The Grey Mare's Tail is an impressive 60-metre waterfall tucked into the hills above Kinlochleven. The walk to reach it is short but rewarding, climbing through woodland on a well-maintained path to a viewpoint directly opposite the falls.

After heavy rain — which is frequent in this part of Scotland — the waterfall is a thundering white torrent. Even in drier periods, it's a beautiful sight framed by birch and rowan trees.

The path continues above the falls for those wanting a longer walk, with views back down to Kinlochleven and Loch Leven. Combined with a visit to Kinlochleven itself (Ice Factor, cafés, West Highland Way), it makes a good half-day excursion.
