Pap of Glencoe (Sgorr na Cìche)

7 km
Distance
742m
Elevation
4-5 hours
Duration

The Pap of Glencoe is the iconic breast-shaped peak that dominates the view from Glencoe village and Loch Leven. At 742m, it's not a Munro, but don't let that fool you — the ascent is steep, sustained, and demands respect.

Starting from Glencoe village, the path climbs relentlessly through forestry and then open hillside. The final section is a hands-on scramble up a rocky cone that can feel exposed in wind. But the summit rewards generously: a 360° panorama encompassing Loch Leven, Glen Coe, the Mamores, Ben Nevis, and on clear days, the islands of Mull and Lismore.

This is the mountain that appears on a thousand postcards and Instagram feeds. Standing on top of it, looking down at the loch 742m below, you understand why.
